A recent study published in Science found that COVID-19 antibodies persisted for at least 5 months in mild-to-moderate COVID-19 cases. The persistence and effects of antibodies (be it short or long) is still being studied.

Recommendations for Industry
[Infographic] COVID? Flu? Cold? or Allergies? What is it?
​
Fall and winter typically see an increase in coughs, sneezes, and runny or stuffy noses, and it’s never been easy to distinguish between the flu, cold, and seasonal allergies, especially at the onset. But this year, we also have the similarities of COVID-19 symptoms to contend with. So how do you tell the difference? And what should be done in any case?
​
TAG developed a comparison chart of the most common symptoms of COVID-19, flu, cold, seasonal allergies, and asthma. It can provide some differentiation – e.g., if a worker is wheezing, has shortness of breath, and chest tightness or pain – and does not normally have asthma – they should be tested for COVID-19.
​
If a worker has only a runny or stuffy nose and chills, body aches, or fever, it could be COVID-19 … or flu or cold. It is difficult to differentiate these with a temperature check or wellness screening. Still, all are viral respiratory illnesses and are infectious; thus, the ill worker should be excluded until the disease is diagnosed and the worker is no longer contagious.

While the chart cannot precisely inform you of a person’s illness, it can help determine the potential of COVID-19 over other causes and provide some guidance for infectivity and worker quarantine.
