Risk Matrix Update: Week of September 08, 2020

The average U.S. social index value increased to 30 this week, up from 26 and 27 in the last few weeks. This shift indicates that mobility within the U.S. has decreased.

  • Ten (10) states (California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Kentucky, and Michigan) have reversed some of their re-opening policies, which vary by state. These states are indicated by an asterisk (*) in the matrix.

  • Twelve (12) states (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Illinois, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, South Carolina, North Carolina, Delaware, New Jersey, and Connecticut) are partially re-opening to varying levels. These states are indicated by a cross (†) in the matrix.

Thirteen (13) states, compared to last week’s 11 states, have a TPR greater than 10% indicating they have inadequate testing and/or increasing case counts:

  • North Dakota: 20%

  • South Dakota: 19%

  • Kansas: 18%

  • Mississippi: 17%

  • Iowa, Idaho: 15%

  • Florida, Missouri: 13%

  • Arkansas, Nebraska, Nevada, South Carolina, Wisconsin: 11%

Looking at the Changes in Test Positive Rates (between last week and this week), Wyoming, Idaho, Pennsylvania, Kansas, Mississippi, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Maryland, and Arkansas have experienced the greatest increases in Test Positive Rates.
