Currently only available for state residents, Virginia has launched the first app that can notify you of being a close-contact with others. The app, COVIDWISE (available for both Apple and Google), will notify you of potential exposure to infected individuals. CDC Updates Home Isolation Advice

On Sunday, August 16, the CDC updated its home isolation advice for those who have had close contact with someone with COVID-19. While the CDC still recommends that close contacts stay home for 14 days after their last exposure to an infected person, CDC has updated that recommendation to say that those who:

Have had COVID-19 within the last 3 months, and
-
Have recovered, and
-
remain without COVID-19 symptoms
do not need to stay home.
However, anyone who thinks they might have COVID-19 should stay home and away from other people.
Additionally, because a person who has had COVID-19 and recovered can still have low levels of the virus in their bodies for up to 3 months, it is not recommended that they be retested. Due to the low levels of virus in their bodies, individuals may receive a positive result that would not necessarily mean that they are still spreading the virus.
At this time, it is not yet known if a person can be re-infected with COVID-19. Thus, if new symptoms appear within (or after) the three months, the person should isolate and be evaluated for reinfection, especially if there has been close contact with someone infected with COVID-19.
