Director, Communications

Lisa Jo Lupo, Director, Communications for The Acheson Group, began with TAG as its science writer upon its founding, having previously written for Dr. David Acheson in his Food Safety Practice within Leavitt Partners. Bringing more than 30 years of food industry experience to TAG as Editor and Lead Writer for Quality Assurance & Food Safety (QA) magazine and Founder and President of LJ Writing Services, Lisa has become recognized in the industry for her knowledge and contributions to the advancement of food safety through her writings.

 

Lisa began her food safety communications career as the lead writer for the then newly formed Ecolab Pest Elimination division where she provided customer and technical communications to and about foodservice, hospitality, and food processing. Through LJ Writing Services, which she founded in 2003, and QA magazine, which she joined in 2004, Lisa champions her role as a leading voice of food safety, quality, and defense. Her plant-floor observations and discussions of food safety and quality processes and practices in the more than 60 food and beverage processing plants she has profiled, have given her extensive, first-hand knowledge of the realities of the industry.

 

Lisa is a chapter author of Food Traceability (Springer, 2019) and editor of multiple pest control books, including the PCT Guide to Commercial Pest Management. She is a Senior Advisor to The Hong Kong Polytechnic University Food Safety Consortium Board; a Past President of the Twin Cities Chapter of ASBPE; participant in a PAACO/AMI Meat Plant Welfare Auditor Training Course; and has spoken on topics such as industry evolutions, trends, and expectations at the Food Safety Summit, Sigma Xi Science Society Food Safety Symposium, Southern California Food Industry Conference, GMA Science Forum, and corporate food safety conferences. Lisa holds a BA in Journalism with Honors in the Liberal Arts from The Ohio State University.
